Who leads the discussion?
A 26 yr old philosophy (almost) graduate who loves philosophy.
Who attends?
Mostly young brooklyn types (go figure).
Who hosts the meetings?
The gracious people at OfficeOps.
OfficeOps is something like a cool version of a community center - artistic,
musical, and intellectual events are hosted there.
What's the atmosphere like?
Very relaxed and informal. We have comfortable chairs and a lounge-like atmosphere (but
without the dim lighting).
Is any reading or preperation necessary?
Absolutely not. All topics choosen are accessible to regular people and assume no prior
knowledge. An introduction
given at the beginning of the discussion also frames the topic in such a way as to make
it accessible to everyone.
What is the format of the discussion?
First an introduction is given which serves to frame the topic and set up interesting
questions. Then the discussion, which is (lightly) moderated, begins. This is mostly
just people talking to each other - addressing points, offering examples or counter-examples,
raising other issues, etc. Around 9:30 we wrap it up and sometimes go to a local bar
for drinks/hang out.
